Tea Tuesday and the 1970's

SO SORRY FOR THE DELAY TODAY
... I just could not get on the internet and on the day it is my turn to host,,,SORRY.

Due to being unable to get on and post I have had to throw this post together in just 40mins that includes the research too.... so if it's a bit mixed up and doesnt follow in places you know why.
My theme was the first thing that cae to mind when I received Kimmies email asking us to take turns hosting. hope that it takes you back in time.

ABBA one of the biggest groups of the 1970's

Dedicated follower of fashion

These boots were made for walking...Nancy and Frank Sinatra...

My brother-in-law wore shoes like the ones above along with a family friend Phil Grahame....real Motown
.

I remember having a pair very similar to the above when I was pregnant with my youngest in 1976 I was walking along and fell off them...down I went into a heap and couldn't get up fast enough ..looking around to see if anyone had seen me....we do that don't we...thankfully no one else was around. lol.

I remember my sister wearing silver boots just like these I wore them in YELLOW... lol... I was the height of fashion even with 2 children.

Above a German fashion shoot

Micro, Mini or Maxi 1970s Skirt Lengths
By 1970 women chose who they wanted to be and if they felt like wearing a short mini skirt one day and a maxi dress, midi skirt or hot pants the next day - that's what we did.

For eveningwear we often wore full length maxi dresses, evening trousers or glamorous catsuits. ... both men and women
Some of the dresses oozed Motown glamour, others less so.

Real Hairstyles of the 1970s
Remember these are what real women looked like. If you are looking for glamour in 1970s hairstyles then check out images of Farrah Fawcett Majors who looked fab
especially during her Charlie's Angels era. (Loved that program ) Such a hairdo would have demanded a hairdresser running around after her on a film set to constantly maintain those flicks with curling tongs. Heated rollers could be used to similar effect, but tongs could achieve more directional hair flick ups. Mostly during the 70s electric tongs were used with Braun gas tongs becoming very popular in the 1980s. I used heated rollers to get my hair like Farah's.... put them in take them out and put your fingers through it to break up the curl NEVER use a brush or comb....just your fingers.
One of the many PG Tips tea adverts of the '70's

T Tuesday 'Water' Challenge

The week once again has passed so quickly and on Sunday I was still no nearer to coming up with an Idea and pics to cover the T Tuesday theme set by Patty... Theme being ' Water '

But on my travels in blog land I found this fun picture of a 'game for a laugh' lady carrying 2 cups of tea for herself and a guest...thank you to Tristan Robin's blog.

Marley wanted Spag bol for his supper and as I filled the pan I thought Ahhhh WATER....so out came the camera.

I was very fast taking the pics so as not to let it get cold.... I was greeted with a smile to light up a room when I gave him it and I was happy to get an empty plate back from him to wash, I wash he dries. Pictures make it look a bit pale but it was a lovely tomato colour.

Hope that you are all enjoying this weeks challenge and when it gets round to mine you enjoy that too.

Can't wait to see what you lovely ladies come up with on the theme of WATER :)

I shared my new stamping mag with you last week, it came with a beautiful free stamp on the front I have used it on this ATC the little girls stamp is just gorgeous.

On Wednesday I give up CHOCOLATE for Lent and that is going to be a challenge in itself...lol.

What might you be giving up?

Enjoy the rest of the week I know I will as I have my crafty friend Chris staying for a few days... Huge smile :)))) crafting all day every day :))))

If you want to join in the T Tuesday pop over to Kimmie's blog HERE to see what the others have come up with for Patty's challenge.

Thanks Patty x

Happy Valentine and Doodle ATC's

Happy Saturday,

Here are a few of my Doodle ATC's I have created using the backgrounds I showed last week they are for the challenge on our club ATC blog over H.E.R.E.

I found it a challnege when it came to the doodling as I only ever doodled arrows, flowers, hearts and the words love and hello on my telephone directories I was not in the least bit confident doing this challenge...but thats what challenges are about.

Have a great valentine on Sunday, I am being taken out y 2 of my grandchildren, Alecia and Marley they are my Valentines this year, Jordie, oldest granddaughter was my Valentine last year but this year she has Adam.

T on Tuesday

It's 'T on Tuesday'...how quick does that come back around....Today I thought I would share with you my new magazine I have subscribed to ...one of my fab Christmas pressies, I just love it when the pressie lasts for one whole year.

And today instead of serving tea and biscuits I thought I would serve you a helping of some ATC's I am playing with for our monthly challenge over H E R E
The challenge was set by Donna we have to DOODLE our backgrounds and add an image and embellishments.

These are my backgrounds I played with at my DD's PJ crafty night using acrylic paints they are not yet finished but thought I would still share them with you.

One of the images I am playing with, I just love it it has been designed by Joyce Howton at Paper Forest Designs based in Australia they arrived on Saturday morning they took only 5 days to get to me in the UK... how good is that...I ordered some stamps on the same day from 35 miles up the road, they have been dispatched and YES you have guessed it...still no sign of them!!!
Below some Twinchies I also played with using up the left over background again they are not yet finished but wanted to show you anyway.

This gawgus girl below has been part of my kitchen for 7 years she has taken pride and place in all 5 homes since 2003

That's it Tbreak over for today....and if you would like to join in with us pop over to Kimmies blog
H E R E and see what the other girls are chatting about... you may like to join in with us next time.

Gothic Arch Challenge.

It's been forever since I joined in the Gothic arch challenge with Nancy It was one of my things to do 2010 a little late but better late than never.

The challenge this week is correspondence my arch shows a young mum showing off her daughter in a photo she has posted along with a letter to her great Aunt Alice.
click on picture to read the note and see the background...I just don't know when to stop...lol

If you would like to join in the fun then pop over
H E R E

I was making this at 4.30am this morning as I couldn't sleep.

Hey, I have finally got a lintel above my kitchen window the cowboys...ooops mean workman arrived today...7 months later...to be fair to the workman he isn't to blame it's the project manager to blame... I have had every excuse in the book for not turning up.... He didn't turn up to fit the shower as promised for 9am today...but then again I waited 9 weeks without my pee bath being installed.... but I try to keep happy but sometimes it's hard. :)
