Alter a photo challenge

Here we are as promised our January challenge to 'ALTER A PHOTO' our challenge challenged both Chris (Mrs Bling) and I as we had never done one before..lol
But that's what it's all about.

So here we go this first photo is of Chris' DD and DG and don't you think they are the spit of our Chris.

Here it is altered...Chris gave it a real grungy background with a modern feel to it, those letters are so small, she did them free hand and then took for ages to cut them out .... 'Fancy that'Chris enjoyed it so much lol she did a second one to share with you... once again DG. Wait till you see this altered piece it is sooo gorgeous and original the words are wicked.

What did I tell you..it took her all night to come up with those words but hey it was worth it Chris....how original is that.
Mine, well, some of you have seen my photo I chose to alter already in the post below but for those that have not here it is.
2nd from the left is my youngest son Leigh, he was best man for his good friend Jez 2nd from the right.
Although challenging I did have alot of fun with this one... I used gesso on the background to start with.

changed the heads using images from Artchix studios which I have had a lonnnng time... searched a catalogue for the red pieces and combed a magazine for the words.
I am actually so pleased with it I am framing it.
O.K. you want to join in the fun I can tell :).... and so you can....
Everyone can take part by altering a photo and sending..... *****UPDATE*****... THE BEFORE PHOTO AND THE ALTERED ONE....by email to Chris at ..... chrisrowe@gmail.com by the closing date Friday 30th Jan 09. at midnight UK time.
Chris will put them up on here along with a poll for you to vote on your fave piece of work....ATTENTION.... there will no longer be a poll voting system PLEASE see the post above. THANK YOU. xx
This month we have been sponsored by Caroline at 'Bubbly Funk' she has been kind enough to donate this fab prize below of 6 assorted shades of chalk inks by Versa Magic...how cool are they, we are so jealous as we cannot win them...neither Chris or I have tried them YET, watch this space!

awfully big art adventure - charms

Costume jewellery which I have had for many many years came in very useful for Linda and Rosie's challenge this week.

The first piece had a huge black stone in it until I used great force and pushed it out from the back, 2 of the chains were fixed back on by Chris ( we had a chocolate free...yes us, the 2 chriss' have had a crafting night without chocolate...never been known.... we put on too much weight from these crafting sessions last year so this year we aim to remove it... harder to remove than put it on..lol)

After removing the stone i cut a picture from a wonderful set of images which I bought from Karen at Scrapz. Chose some bling and adhered 4 pink diamonds to this already ornate piece...giving it a new lease of life.

This very blingy blue piece is another broach to which I just added an Artchix Studio image bringing it more up to date.

The top picture of the black and white charm is the front and the legs the reverse side of this charm...it started life as a blue metal tag charm to which I adhered the 2 images both from Artchix.. added a little bit of stamping, some words from a magazine and silver embossed the edges...BUT...be sure to hold the metal charm with pliers or something similar as i forgot that the metal underneath would get HOT... ouch!! some swear words... as Chris would say...lol. However I did manage to give her a wonderful beauty spot on her chin from the tip of them. I added a chain to complete it.... thanx Chris for the chain. x

The last one... although the frame looks metal it isn't, it is plastic, coated in metal paint using another Artchix studio image and part of necklace which I cut up.
Between Chris and I we went mad with these gorgeous images.

Thank you to both Linda and Rosie for setting this challenge, both Chris and I enjoyed it so much we are hooked...lol...watch this space.

Why not pop over to Chris's and see what she created as they are gorgeous.

Now to try and get round my lovely people who have left me comments while I have been AWOL again.... sorry life once again got in my way.

Thanks for looking

I See Stars

This gorgeous Crafty Individual Stamp is what I used to create my arch xx

This is my entry into the Fiskarettes monthly competition 'I see stars'

I so enjoyed creating this Gothic Arch.

I built up at least 6 layers of gold embossing powder by heating and melting until I achieved a thickness I was happy with and whilst still hot I carefully stamped my chosen image into the hot gold...my choice being one of Crafty Individuals ...It gave off so much texture.... click picture to enlarge

Once the gold was cold I them used gesso and inks to finish the background.

I them inked the stamp with an ocean breeze colour, cut out the image, stained it with black tea and then adhered it in place.

I am pleased with the results...:))

Thought I would share this housework banner with you

I must say Housework has been stopped in my house for sometime now, since I began using my living room to craft in.... it's a creative mess...but I have promised myself to clean up more often.... lol.... if i cleaned once a week it would be more often..lol.

I hope that i managed to get round all our followers and those which i also follow either over the Christmas or New Year period...If I have left anyone out I must apologise as I didnt mean to.

I wish for everyone a FABULOUS 2009.
